Who we are and what we do
BadgerComp is an independent UK computer hard and software retailer. We are London based, but most of
our stock is drop-shipped from suppliers all over the UK. We try to enhance the customer experience by featuring
products from other retailer, so you can make a decision of buying from us, small & independent, or a bigger
retailer.
Although we are small, we have to abide by the same laws and regulations as the big retailers, so don't worry - read on:

BadgerComp is committed to providing you the best possible shopping experience.
Ordering online is similar to buying in the store. All prices and products you see are essentially 'Offers to Trreat'
which means that we offer you the product for which you can offer us money.
When you pay through our checkout, this does not enter a legally binding contract, but we send you
a notification that we will now try to make the product available to you at the price quoted. In case we can't or
cannot come to a different agreement, we will (and have to) refund you any payments immediately.
When you order products that are in stock, we will quote you a delivery time on the product. This is our best
estimate, but should you pay for next day delivery, you are entitled to next day delivery.
In any case, we will try to contact you via email or phone if there are any problems with your order.
If you order a product from us, we will have to deliver it to you within 6 weeks or quote a different delivery time to
which you can agree or get a refund. In general our delivery times are a lot, lot quicker...
If you complain about a product not being received, we have to respond to it. We track all our products that we send,
so nothing should get lost in the mail. When we deliver a product to your billing address, we are protected from a
refund. PayPal will protect us in some instances on other "confirmed" addresses. If we can't produce a delivery slip,
we are required to send you a replacement or offer you a full refund.
If a product is not as it was described, you are entitled to send it back - free of charge - and we will have to refund you
or offer you an alternative.
If you are unhappy with your purcahse for any other reason, we do not have to accept the item back. In most cases
we will accept a return though. You might be liable to a small admin fee.
Although we are a small retailer, you are very secure when shopping with us. You are not only protected by your card
issuer and PayPal, but also the UK law. - Happy shopping!
Navigating to a product
BadgerComp currently has a two-level category tree. The top level are our departments: Computer, Laptops, etc...
The second level is everything that falls into these categories. If you were to look for an internal hard disk, it would
probably wise to start in the 'Components' section. Once you select a department from either the left navigation or
the top banner, the navigation on the left should update and give you a selection of categories within that department.
Please note: it will only display departments that have products in them at the moment.
If you then select "hard disks" from the category tree, you will land on our search results page for all products in that
same category. The default view is grid, but you can change the view to row view or get the items to display in order
of pricing. Click on an image or product name to see the product details.
Finding a product
You can find a product using different methods: Search for the product name, a part of the description, navigate
to it using the navigation bars or searching for an EAN or MPN.
All products on our site have a unique reference number, the product ID. Make a reference of that product ID
when you want to get back to it later. A product can easily be navigated to by replacing the ID in the product URL
with the ID of your product. The rest of the URL is actually irrelevant for the page to load...
BadgerComp Search
The BadgerComp search has gotten a lot more sophisticated since it's early days. Any search term you will use
will be stemmed and analysed and we will try to display you a multitude of relevant products in order of relevance.
On the search page itself you can then decide in what order you would like them to be displayed: Price highed to lowest,
lowest to highest, relevance to the search term and when the product was added to our site (newest).
The search page also allows you to change the default view from grid to row view.
Through stemming we attempt to remove words such as 'in', 'out', 'from', 'by' and etc... So when you would look for
'Mass storage units from IBM', we will try to find use the terms 'storage', 'unit' and 'IBM' to search our products. We
will then order them by products that have these words in their description.
The search engine will search different fields in our DB: MPN, EAN, Product Title and Description, so feel free to use anything
you like when making a search.
We currently have no methods in place to override the stemmer by quotation marks. Also term qualifiers you might know
from Google (+ / - / []) do not have an effect on search results. We also do not have plans to implement these in the near future.
Your cart and items
The cart is where all your product purchases in this shopping journey are stored. We keep your basket for a minimum of
7 days active for you. That means you can come back within 7 days and find the cart un-touched and all products you placed
in it should still be there.
Beware though, not all products might still be in stock. It might be worth checking if the availability has changed.
The cart also allows you to 'delete' products from your cart using the 'remove' link. If you want to update the quantity
of a product, you will need to update one line item at a time, confirming the update by pressing enter / return.
When you are logged in, you can proceed to the checkout.
Checkout & Ordering
When you proceed to checkout, you will need to have given us some details of yourself and have opened an account.
You will also need to have accepted our Ts & Cs that give you some legal information.
All trasnactions are currently handled by PayPal. You don't need to have an account with PayPal, but PayPal will verify the
card for us and take the payment. PayPal accepts all major credit & debit cards and also bank draft.
You will be forwarded to PayPal to complete the transaction, but after payment the PayPal site will direct you back to our store.
It's adviseable to wait for this final re-direct, as it ensures that you will get an order number and email confirmation of your purchase.
The order number will have us find your purchase more easily.
We only send products to confirmed PayPal addresses.
Contacting us regarding your order
If you have any questions regarding your order you can contact us using the
web-form or
send us an email at enquiry@badgercomp.com.
We generally answer pretty quickly, but if you state in the subject that it is regarding an order, we will follow up immediately.
Ideally you will send us your order number when you are sending us an email.
When you complain about an item not as described, be sure to send us as much information as possible. Also note that
some deliveries, especially items on back-order, might not be delivered in the expected time frame. Any purchase that needs
longer than 14 days, will be brought to your attention by customer service.
Privacy Policy
The privacy policy is a long boring read about technology we use to capture information. In general we try to protect your identity and your data is securely hosted on our server and never taken away from the data centre by any of our employees. Feel free to read the whole privacy policyM.
BadgerComp Blog
We use our blog to promote hot products and also inform customers about our recent product developemnts.
As we are a small company, the blog might not be the most important asset for us, but we use it on occasion.
Feel free to send us emails and articles that you think we would like to publish.
BadgerComp Partner Programme
Our partner programme is not live yet, but will eventually allow you to promote our products and earn a commission on sales generated through your links. As we are closer to launching this product, we will update this section to introduce you to an exciting work-from-home opportunity.
Affiliate Products and Orders
BadgerComp does feature products from different merchants. We refer to these as Affiliate Products.
Most of the merchants that send us affiliate products are large online retailer, but there might be some
names you do not recognise.
We try to make clear that the products are actually affiliate products and we display the store you would
be buying from.
As we do not handle the purchase, you would have to contact the retailer you bought the product from.
We can help you with that, if you encounter any problems.
BadgerCart
BadgerCart is a free and open-source version of BadgerComp. It is still in development, so wait for more features to be released.
The technology we use for BadgerCart is PHP, so hosting is cheap and technology is free!
